Q: Describe your music.
A: It's R&B, soul and inspirational. It's stuff we grew up on in the ' 70s.
Q: How have crowds received you?
A: We draw really well. We do intimate settings, and our last big show drew between 500-600. We also open for a lot of people, including Frankie Beverly and Maze.
Q: Have you come to your musical profession late in life?
A: I've always been serious about music, but it took awhile to decide to be up front. I play keys, sing and write. I was getting paid for doing music for TV back when I was playing. I did a lot of stuff for BET and got paid for music in the late ' 80s and early ' 90s.
Q: Do you like the music of any other athlete?
A: Shaq had some great tracks. Bernie Williams did some really good stuff where people would say, ''Bernie did this?'' That's how it is when people hear my stuff.
Q: How's your son, T.J.?
A: He started for Albuquerque in the NBDL last year, and [the team] won a championship. He played there again this year and then went over to Puerto Rico and is getting ready for next season. I think he deserves to be in the NBA. He has what it takes, and not just his daddy's last name. He's tough, and that's all I ever asked of my kids.
Q: What do you think of your hometown team?
A: I like them. But they can't do what Michael's teams did in winning a championship without a center. As a perimeter team, when they're hot, they're hot. But when they're not, they look like a college team. They play like Scottie [Skiles] played, moving the ball around, drawing defenders and kicking it to the shooter. They're tough and tenacious like him. I played with him in Milwaukee.
