An ordained Pentecostal Minister since the age of 16, Elder Terry Cummings preaches with a heart for mentorship and deliverance. Terry was born on March 15, 1961to John L. and Verda Cummings in St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, Indiana. Grandparents on his mother's side were Noah and Ruth White.
At age sixteen, Terry was sent to his Grandparents home to spend the summer. Having grown up in the inner city streets of Chicago, he was very familiar with death, gangs, drugs, prostitution and the like. He, himself, was sent to his Grandparents to further escape the streets of the south side of Chicago.
It is here in Hammond, Indiana, where he became acquainted with his God. His Grandmamma and Grandfather prayed and fasted often and included their children, as well as Terry, in their home and family prayer meetings. He was accosted by the Spirit one day prior to going to Indiana, while playing ball on the courts. He noticed an Omniscient Presence on the side of the playground that caused him to stay and take notice. No words were spoken but the presence told him, "I have called you for a special work and you are my chosen." Baffled that no one else noticed this, he went on. He would soon after go to be with his Grandparents where he would finally meet God and be face to face with the devil.
One day while asleep at his Grandparents, Terry dreamt he saw Jesus on a white horse, with crown, scepter, and garb, followed by hundreds of thousands of others dressed the same. As the clouds rolled back, this image of Christ in the clouds formed. In the dream, Terry was aware of his sinfulness and the fact that he didn't know much about God, but he knew what Jesus's coming back meant. He began to cry out "Lord, not now, I'm not ready." To no avail, the Lord came, and words that started small ended up big as they come out of his mouth, and everything in the way of His words was destroyed; buildings, cars, people – everything.

Terry awoke from this dream not knowing where he was. In the country town of Hammond it gets dark. The room was very dark and he was sweating and afraid, fearing he was in Hell. He began to look around for some hope. He found it, off to his right was a thin slither of light. He followed it and realized it was the curtain next to the window and that it was only a dream. The next day, excited to be alive, he and two others had the chore of cleaning up the church. While cleaning, he, Jimmy, and Manny started to sing old church hymns. As they sang, the spirit of the Lord entered the place. Terry went to the organ, having never played before, and began composing a song called "Running the Race." Jimmy went to the drums and followed, while Manny grabbed the guitar and played. After a short while, Terry left the organ and began to dance in the Spirit. He danced, he ran, he jumped, he cried, he played, and worshipped until he was soaked and worn-out. As the evening drew to a close, the boys left and went home. Terry was walking down the graveled alley and noticed his Grandfather looking at him, and, as he approached, his Grandfather said, "so, you are a preacher. God has called you to be a preacher. I saw it all over you. The Spirit of God is all over you." Terry pondered what this meant. Meanwhile, he was tired and he was the last one in his room that night and so it was the job of the last one to latch the door to the bedroom. So he did, and somwhere in the middle of the night, he was awakened to the opening and closing of the door with no human help. He knew it was the devil and that he was mad, so he smiled, rolled over and went back to sleep. When he awoke in the morning, the door was still latched closed.
Having come face to face with the devil, he smiled for he was on a high and God was with him. It was after all of this that he really began to seek God out, to understand his own purpose.

Though he would tell many people of his dream initially, he began to share his love for Christ. His friends saw him change over night. He began to carry his bible along with the rest of his books, and, as if that weren't enough, he began to grow at such a pace that even he was not aware of it. Between 9th and 10th grade, he grew from 5'9" to 6'3" and continued on growing. Once in the mode of seeking God, he became captivated by the word, and as a child he found a book his Mom had around called "Miracles."
This book always caught his eye, until finally one day he sat down to read it and it told of the exploits of Jesus and how he was a healer of all men. He began to seek this God who was a deliverer and he found Him. He was driven to have bible study at his local high school, but the laws prohibited it, yet there was a God fearing librarian who allowed them the time and space. Terry, somehow, knew how to pray and God would always answer. He told God, he didn't understand the bible. God told him "before you open the word, ask me for wisom and understanding." He then began to understand the scriptures quickly and was able to share in the bible study's daily. The supernatural began to happen right away. While praying one day, a ball like fire came from around the corner of the outside of the building and set in the middle of the table. God's presence was in the building and became commonplace for him. One day they could not use the library because it was not available, so they were given a small study room off the hallway. As the group began to pray, a cloud filled the room. The women's track team was running in the hallways as the cloud filtered out into the hall. Before long, some of the girls came into the small room crying and gave their hearts to the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord was in the room, and all up and down the hallways, convicting and inspiring all.

While driving down the street one day the voice of God came to Terry and spoke, "Terry, if you ever stop being humble, I can't use you." Again Terry was humbled that the Lord even wanted to use him, and he always drew back to this time, to ever remind him of his plight of humility.
While in college and having a sense of his call, he began to seek for the more of God. Ever mindful of the word "Seek and ye shall find." By the span of 3 months, he began to consecrate, fast, and pray, sometimes all day and all night, seeking God for the answer to "what do you want me to do?" He knew it was not enough to be called, he wanted to know what the call was and what was expected. One day as he lay down to sleep, yet still awake before his head hit the pillow, his spirit left his body and went up through the roof of his dorm building, past earth's atmosphere, and finally, looking down he could see the earth beneath him and the heavens above him. That's when he noticed a figment, dressed in white, coming down from the highest heaven and a voice echoed, "this is my spirit come down to you." Fear struck Terry and he took off back through the earth's atmosphere, through his dorm ceiling, into his room, back into his body. Gasping for air, his spirit hit his body. Moving to sit up, he saw the same figment hovering over him and touching him on his thigh. His body went limp, his heart began racing, he couldn't move. The voice of the Lord spoke on what is the foundation of his deliverance ministry "Terry, you can't do anything until the Holy Ghost comes, nothing."
This epitomized his belief that until God instructs him, he will not move to pray for the sick, preach, or anything else except worship, which creates the atmosphere for more of God's Spirit.
